MUSIC SINCE 1975 – SCRIPTA MANENT
(F-08)
In the last fifteen minutes
of each instruction day, supervised by the instructor, the class will produce a
class summary of what has been covered on that specific day (i.e. you better
take notes). The “break-down” of the class lecture will be written on the
classroom board, and a digital photograph will be taken of it. The photograph
will be posted on the class web site by the next class meeting. I called this
system Scripta Manent©, and I specifically designed it as a “valuable aid to
the memory”. It is meant to trigger the memory of what was covered in class and
to help the student to review the class materials, especially (but not
exclusively) before the Final exam. The ability of each student to contribute
to the weekly class summaries will be rewarded as part of the participation
grade (i.e. you better make a significant contribution). Goes without saying
that these snapshots have a value exclusively for those who were present in the
classroom when they were taken, and they do not substitute any of the reading
or listening assignments.
