Course Description

This course continues the survey of Western Music History, beginning around 1700 and continuing to the end of the 19th century. It emphasizes repertory that is typical of important musical styles. It develops analytical concepts to understand and interpret this repertory and tries to place the music in its social, political and aesthetic contexts.
