Because Assignment 2 is due next week, there’s no preparation . . . well almost none.

When you have a moment, would you please read the Wikipedia entry on Charles Ives: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Ives. It’s reasonably accurate (though, so far as I can tell, Ives did not play on the Yale varsity football team), and it has useful links. In class next week I’ll give an introductory overview of Ives’s life and music.
