ASSIGNMENTS, PREPARATIONS, GRADING

Preparations – There will be a preparation for each week's class.  Preparations typically involve listening to several works by Joseph Haydn, studying the scores, reading about the assigned repertory, and writing a short comment that will serve as the basis for class discussion.  Preparations are due at the end of class. They won't receive a letter grade but will be marked + / √ / – / 0 , based on punctuality, effort and insight.

Assignments – There will be three papers, the first two of 5-7 pages, the last of 10-12 pages, the first two on closely specified topics, the last on topic chosen by the students.

There will be no final exam.
