Musicologist Rose Theresa is a specialist in the history of music and 
visual culture.  She completed her PhD at
University of Pennsylvania 
in 2000 with a dissertation on Gounod?s Faust and operatic 
spectatorship and was contributing editor to the collection of essays 
Between Opera and Cinema, published by Routledge in 2002.  Presently 
she is concentrating her efforts on a book-length study of Shirley 
Temple, to be titled Shirley Temple: Sentiment, Song and Dance.  
Professor Theresa has taught courses in both music and cinema studies 
at
University of Oklahoma, University of Virginia, the University at 
Stony Brook and, most recently, at the
University of California
Berkeley where she was visiting professor of musicology this past 
Spring, 2008.
